Trusting your Intuition

Your Third Eye, the Inner Voice, Your Higher Self, A Sixth Sense.....all different names for one thing we ALL have---intuition.

Sadly--it is not as easy to follow one's intuition as it would seem--and I think this
is something most of us struggle with: trusting what our "inner voice" or intuition tells us---and then following through with it!

We second guess ourselves--a lot. I know personally I do this way too often--even when I know that 9 times out of 10 my intuition is leading me in the right direction.

That is one of the many blessings of being a Reiki practitioner--during each and every Reiki session I get to use my intuition --flexing the third eye muscle and therefore making it stronger.

I use my intuition to tell me what issues need to be addressed for my client, what might help them most and to ascertain any other messages I am supposed to receive on their behalf.

One of the lessons I have been lucky to learn through my Reiki classes is that when in doubt--ask. Ask, ask, ask. By asking questions about things you have a "hunch" about you will start to become more confident in your intuition's communication with you.

For example, a client of mine a few weeks ago had scheduled a standard Reiki Treatment Session. I normally start off my sessions by clearing out the Chakras. While I was clearing out her throat chakra I saw images in my mind's eye of her yelling at her husband--as if they were arguing. Now, this client is a soft-spoken and friendly yoga instructor. This scene was not something I would ever expect to see from her. I didn't want to say anything at first, but then remembered if I didn't ask I would never know if my intuition was right--so I asked her, "Have you been angry lately--perhaps with your kids or other family member?" ( I didn't dare say husband to avoid offending her if I was way off)
and she told me, "Yes, actually, I've been angry with my husband!"

I was right! Later she explained that she normally never yelled but she feels open enough with him to voice her opinions and thoughts--and even raise her voice in an argument. Again--I felt validated.

See, it's a matter of trust.

So, for those who are interested in how to raise their intuition skills a bit, here is what I have learned can help "turn up the volume" of your inner voice.

1. Meditate--whether mantra mediation or just silently paying attention to your breath for 10-15 minutes a day--it helps open your "third eye"

2. Journal--by writing down your thoughts each day you will be able to go back and see where your hunches were correct and begin to gain more confidence in your intuitive abilities

3. Purchase some oracle or angel cards---Doreen Virtue has some great ones as does Dyan Garris--follow the instructions on the card inserts and practice giving yourself and friends some readings--it's quite fun and opens the mind a bit more.

Reiki for the Holdiays!

Hello All & Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas!

This is most definitely a stressful time of year--more now than ever with the economy troubles and uncertainty permeating the air. But, don't fret--Reiki is on the way!

Reiki is an excellent tool for de-stressing and relaxing. In fact, my most common comment from clients is that they felt so relaxed and warm during the session--which oftentimes carries itself into a more restful sleep that evening. This is the perfect time to try a Reiki session! Not only will you feel more relaxed, but it helps move any emotional "debris" out of the body so you get healing and wellness rolled into one.

My rates are very affordable and couldn't come at a better time!

$50 for 50 minute session

$10 discount for all students (with current student I.D.)

Sliding scale for those in need.

Reiki, in my opinion, should be affordable for everyone. This is why I offer more affordable rates--but you still get the same great, professional service!

Often times people wonder why anyone should charge if Reiki itself is a universal energy. The fact is, practitioners are NOT charging for the Reiki, but our personal time for the session and the time, effort and money spent on gaining our certification to Reiki Master.

Also, in the universe it is necessary to have an "energy exchange" after a service is rendered--othewise an "energetic debt" is left and will have to be pulled some other way. This also why I have "service exchanges" available (i.e. massage therapist and I exchange our services for the others) as well as charging.

Bottom line is this: Reiki is healing energy that everyone should be able to experience and I want to be a part of that.

What does Reiki feel like?

I have heard this question many times---What does Reiki feel like? What if I don't feel anything? Did it still work?

It is definitely a very valid question, especially if you are new to the world of energy healing. I can relate--as I was first introduced to Reiki through an employer of mine almost 7 years ago. I was a nanny at the time in Connecticut. My employer was a breast cancer survivor and had used Reiki as a form of healing during her battle with the disease. She was so impressed by the effect Reiki had on her during her treatment that even after her cancer went into remission she continued to use Reiki as an ongoing wellness treatment.

I was really interested in learning about Reiki and its potential to help people with their struggles, so when I moved back home to Wyoming I sought a Reiki practitioner. There was only one in the small town I was living, but she was an excellent conduit to the energy. I don't remember ever really feeling anything amazing during the session, but was more relaxed than anything. After the session, though, I really did feel better and would see her periodically for a treatment and her intuitive guidance.

It would be years later before I myself became attuned to the Reiki energy. I was very nervous that I wouldn't feel the energy after I was attuned to it. My instructor assured me that it didn't matter if I did--some students felt heat from their hands, others did not--either way, the Reiki was there. I need not have worried as I was later attuned to the first level of Reiki and learned how to do my self-treatment, I was in awe by the heat exuding from the palms of my hands. It was surreal! I was exstatic to have had that experience. But I will tell you, it is not always that intense for me--sometimes I really feel heat and energy moving off my hands, but other times, I do not. The same goes for those I have given treatments to...some report the heat is very strong while others feel nothing. I will tell you, though, the times that I have not felt much are the times that I have received reports of how wonderful an impact the Reiki energy had on the patient that day. I received an e-mail once, after a seemingly so-so session telling me essetnitally, "I don't know what you did or how you did it but it worked! My neck has no pain now! " I was thrilled to have been the source for the flow of Reiki to work through me and for another indivuidal.

So, to make a story short---that you may or may not feel much during a Reiki session. It depends on how you perceive such things, but I can assure you, that no matter what, the Reiki will do it's thing...healing and helping whatever parts of you, physical or mental, emotional or even psychological, that need help. And the more you experience Reiki the more you will be sure of this, too.

What to expect during a Reiki session...

taken from www.handsofki.com

A Reiki session is an individualized experience that is relaxing, gentle, and safe for all. It involves healing in a way that will empower you while respecting your feelings and choices.

When you meet with your practitioner for the first time you will be asked to read and acknowledge that you understand your practitioner upholds the highest ethics and also that your personal information remains confidential and is never shared. The practitioner is obliged to respect your confidentiality, be considerate of your needs, and answer your questions. It is explained to you that Reiki does not promise to cure any illness or condition or replace any medical treatments or therapies.The practitioner will begin by explaining Reiki to you and what she will be doing. Your safety and comfort are always the main consideration. If at any time during the session you have any concerns you should let your practitioner know so that appropriate adjustments can be made.

What to wear for your Reiki treatment:

* Comfortable, loose clothing
* Limited jewelry
* Shoes that are easily removable outside of the treatment room
* No belts
* No perfumes or colognes
* Long hair should be pulled back for access to the neck

As you lay on a padded treatment table, fully clothed, soft music will play in the background. Should you prefer quiet you can let your practitioner know; this is your session so be sure to speak up if you have any concerns or requests. Treatments can also be done in a treatment chair. Your comfort and needs are always the main consideration.

Prior to the treatment the practitioner will feel your energy field by placing her hands over your body as she performs a scan known as a Byosen Scan. This will often enable a skilled practitioner to tell where there are areas in your energy field that may need healing before she begins the Reiki session. A subtle difference is felt in her hands at those areas. This procedure makes the session much more beneficial.
She will then place her hands above or lightly touching specific areas called chakras, places in the body where the energy flows through. This is never intrusive and you will begin to feel very relaxed as you allow the energy to flow to the areas where it is most needed by your body. It is at this stage that people usually begin to feel the stress lifting. It is a remarkable experience and for most the effects are immediate while others may not notice anything for a few days. Reiki always works and the more open you are the more intense your experience will be.

If you are having problems in specific areas your practitioner can concentrate more energy there. Reiki always goes where it is needed most whether it is mental, physical, and/or spiritual. Many clients report that they felt calm, relaxed, and sometimes even tingly during their session. They always look forward to their next session. It is not uncommon for a client to present with pain and leave with none or very little.

It is not uncommon for a client to report that they had seen bright colors or specific images. Reiki is relaxing but you cannot assume that each session will be the same. Each time you have a session Reiki meets you where you are at that moment and then moves you from that place closer to your unique place of balance. Acute conditions tend to balance faster than chronic conditions just as children and animals tend to respond faster than adults. The Reiki practitioner cannot predict how much Reiki an individual gets in a session; we only know that the client draws what they need at that time according to the ability of the practitioner to be a conduit for the energy.

No Apparent Cleansing Process

It is not necessary to have any kind of "symptoms" during or even after a Reiki treatment. It does not infer that the treatment did not work since no two individuals have the same energetic levels. Your energy is specific to you much like your fingerprint is.

The Physical Cleansing Process

Reiki stimulates your natural healing ability and this may result in the clearings becoming apparent. This means that you are becoming more open and that your energetic flow is building in strength; this is similar to a clogged drain gradually opening up and clearing. .

The Non-Physical Cleansing

This could be a clearer sense of purpose, a release of emotions, and a deeper connection to your spiritual development. Reiki philosophy suggests that we must always heal our spirit first since clearing the body is a natural and connected method that supports healthy living. A non-physical clearing may often be at the base of a physical clearing.

Reiki is beneficial in keeping your energy from becoming stuck which can stop your emotional connection to life. Cleansing is an innate process and one that is always at work. Receiving Reiki treatments does not mean that you will never get sick; it encourages the body to remove impurities as it views the body in a constant state of imbalance. The clearing process is constant, though not always perceptitible and not always recognized for what it is - a re-balancing of the body. The more Reiki you are exposed to the deeper the cleansing process.

Always be compassionate to yourself, show respect to your body by listening to it and avail yourself to other health care providers whenever you feel it might be beneficial.

Reiki is always there for you. I invite you to experience Reiki, a doorway to clarity and wholeness; your invitation to wellness.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-invasive form of hands-on healing. Recipients report their experience of Reiki includes increased energy, reduction of pain, deep relaxation and a general feeling of well being. Reiki initiation attunes a practitioner to become a channel for the Reiki energy and is a powerful, life-changing experience for physical, mental and spiritual growth.
